TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
Black Hills Electric Cooperative, Inc., located in Custer, South Dakota, is accepting applications to fill a Technology Specialist position.
Primary duties include: Testing, calibration, programming, wiring, installation, maintenance, and operation of all types of meters and metering equipment and all communications systems associated with metering. Programming, installation, and maintenance of computerized switches, breakers and regulators. Responsible for knowledge of the AMR, load control, outage management and right-of-way systems. Maintaining and monitoring all information systems, and ensuring that proper protocols are followed for integration with other systems as required. Responsible for planning (future growth and expansion, replacement and updates), maintains all PC’s and ancillary equipment, keeps records of licenses and updates, maintains servers, networking responsibilities –ensures there is coordination among all systems, departments and outside providers.
The is a new position at the cooperative and applicant will receive on-the-job training as well as professional training in workshops and courses designed to enable the applicant selected to fulfill the duties as described.
The minimum requirements include: At least a two-year associate's degree from a technical school in computer science/electronics/communications. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field is preferred. Experience equivalent to education may be considered. Must possess or obtain a valid South Dakota driver’s license.
Black Hills Electric Cooperative (BHEC) is an electric distribution cooperative that serves its members in rural Custer, Fall River and parts of Lawrence, Meade, Pennington, and Shannon Counties.
